Posting from my new ASUS eee pad Transformer

So this is something completely different for me to post, but still at the same time not so different.  I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Transformer docking station today.  For those of you not yet in the know, allow me to enlighten you.  The Trnsformer is an Android 3 (Honeycomb) tablet.  It has incredible screen resolution, and for a Wifi only version the price is right.  The 16GB model I bought was $399.  The dock is another $150.  That sounds like alot of money for a dock, but this one has a keyboard, 2 usb ports, sd card slot and a battery.  When ou dock the tablet it becomes a notebook of sorts.  The keyboard is beyond well integrated into the Honeycomb experience.  I am surprised at how truly flawless the keyboard works with a tablet.  ASUS has ensured that the tablet part is aware the keyboard is there and makes ful use of it, and it's touchpad.

This brings me to the point of the post.  As this blog lives as a SaaS (Software as a Service) offering, I can blog from anywhere.  Now with my keyboard attached to my tablet, and the tablet tethered to my 4G phone for internet, I have a platform that will allow me to actually create a post.  This post is proof that it is not very cumbersome to type a fair number of words on the Transformer when it is docked.  I purchsed Wyse PocketCloud Pro too.  When combined with the keyboard I can use the entire screen for my VDI session at a respectable resolution.  This combination makes VDI coming from the private cloud totally respectable for a road warrior with a tablet.  I do the same thing from my iPad 2 3G.  It works really well too, but the keyboard integration on the  Transformer makes it so much easier.  Of course, those who know me know that I am an Android fan.

I am glad to say I have crossed a new bridge in road-warrior-ville.  This is litterally the first time I am confident I can take a business trip with nothing but my Android tablet and not have to bring at least my netbook.  I will get to try it out on Thursday when I fly to to the mid-west.

Back in the saddle - Virtualization Management

I know it has been over a month without a post... In internet time that is like... forever.  I had a stressful May.  Several big presentations and events to attend and host.  Those things took a fair amount of my work life, and a fair amount of my personal life too.  The rest of the personal time was devoted to family support of the kids and pregnant wife.  That unfortunately left no time for blogging.  Now I think I can eek out a small amount of time a couple times a week to get caught back up.  Starting with this post on Virtualization Management.  Keep reading after the break for more spine tingling information.
