ASUS tablet update

After using my eee pad Transformer for the last couple of months, and for a few weeks with the keyboard attached, I can honestly say... I think this is the future of client access.  I have used this thing over 3G, 4G, WiFi from hotels, airports, coffee houses, etc...  The Wyse PocketCloud application is awesome.  I was longing for an official VMware View client for Android like the iPad has but the $15 for the Wyse app makes me forget all about the native client.

First off PocketCloud Pro offers not just View client compatibility but also works with RDP and VNC.  I am able to control my home computer from my tablet just as easily as connecting to my View server all the way across the country.

The screen resolution on the eee pad means I can get a respectable size windows desktop running.  Having a keyboard means when I want to more than just read content on the VDI session I can use the trackpad and keyboard just like I would sitting at my desk and using VDI.  I have spent some significant time creating Statments of Work, uploading them into our Windows (Internet Explorer) only compatible software and working on complex spreadsheets.

The only complaint I really have is this:
I tend to right click on things to set options, change properties, manipulate files and all the other things Windows people do with right clicks.  The problem is, the PocketCloud application (or the eee pad, I'm not sure which yet) backs out and disconnectes the session when you do that.  PocketCloud as a way around that using the onscreen "soft-mouse" but old habits die hard.

All in all, I can see this becoming a preferred method for road warriors to access corporate applications.  I look forward to the day when keyboard/trackpad attachments become an option on more devices as they truly transform the tablet from content consumer to content producer.  Most people will say this is not what a tablet is made for, but I like having the option and having tried VDI both ways, I will say I really do like it better with the keyboard.
